5 questions to ask when touring venues
Now that you have a budget in mind and know approximately how many guests you’d like to host, you can start looking for venues! If you’re not quite there yet, take a look at our last blog post to help you get started.
We’ve found that one of the best places to start looking for a venue is The Venue Report where you can narrow down your search options based on location, price, capacity and a plethora of other factors such as on-site parking and restrooms. It’s amenities like these that make comparing the overall cost of one venue to another difficult, but not altogether impossible.
For example, in an ideal world, your venue offers enough restrooms for the number of guests it accommodates, but sometimes that just isn’t the case (I know) and you’ll need to rent portable restrooms for your guests to use. So while the upfront cost of the venue might be lower, your overall cost goes up.
Once you’ve narrowed down your list of potential venues, it’s time to schedule a few tours. This is an opportunity to ask the right questions to help you compare venues and get an overall vibe for the space and the people you’ll be working with.
When touring venues, make sure to take plenty of photos and videos and ask questions! Even better if you ask questions while recording so you can go back and listen to the answer in case you missed it the first time around or forgot to take notes.
We’ve compiled a complete list of questions for our clients to ask when touring venues, but here are a few to get you started:
How many hours are included in the rental?
What kind of furniture is included in the rental, if any?
Does the venue have on-site parking? Restrooms?
Is the venue ADA accessible?
Can you bring in your own vendors or will you be working exclusively with theirs?
